STORY

In the year 2030, humanity began to record their memories on storage devices, discovering that the abuse of "insomnio" deprived them of said memories.

Insomnio, was a drug created by a corporation of the same name. Under its effects, users received the false vision of a pleasant life, full of fictional memories, friends that never existed, perfect jobs, stable lives, a temporary happiness ... but the reality was different. As its slogan announces, "Insomnio, the happiness of tomorrow" it would make anyone who consumed it believe and feel that whatever they saw of themselves was who they really were or would be; injecting users with a temporary and unreal fullness.

This is how this place became what we see today: a landscape deserted of hope. Always dark, chaotic, full of "dissos": people without memories addicted to insomnio, who do not distinguish reality from the illusive.

A small group called the 1080 resistance, tried to oppose Insomnio Corp (currently in control of the entire nation) without any success. Those of us who survived are in search for a place to hide, hoping to one day start the counter attack.

In a remote place in the capital, survivors of the resistance in search of means to destroy Insomnio Corp and save humanity, have found a way to run those storage devices with human memories by using a machine built by themselves using technological residue and a software called 夢 の 現 実 [Dreams of Reality]. Over time, the experiments performed on Dissos test-subjects yielded promising results.

However, Insomnio Corp soon found out. They declared the imprinting of storage devices an illegal act against the nation and ordered all of these devices be destroyed; many of them were simply deleted. Today I spend the days trying to find a single drive that can help us remember who we were and, thus, rescue what is left of our humanity.


HISTORIA

En el año 2030, la humanidad comenzó a grabar en dispositivos de almacenamiento de memoria sus recuerdos, al descubrir que el abuso de "insomnio" les despojaba de ellos. Insomnio, fue una droga creada por una corporación de mismo nombre. Bajo sus efectos, los usuarios recibían la visión falsa de una vida placentera, llena de recuerdos ficticios, amigos que nunca existieron, trabajos perfectos, vidas estables, una felicidad temporal…pero la realidad fue otra. Como su eslogan anunciaba, "Insomnio, la felicidad del mañana" le hacía creer y sentir a quien la consumía que lo que veía de sí misma, era quién realmente era o sería; inyectándoles una plenitud temporal e irreal. Fue así como este lugar llegó a ser lo que hoy contemplamos: un paraje desierto de esperanza, siempre oscuro, caótico, lleno de "dissos": personas sin recuerdos adictas a Insomnio, quienes no distinguen la realidad de lo ilusorio.
Un pequeño grupo denominado la resistencia 1080, intentó oponerse a Insomnio Corp (actualmente en control de la nación entera) sin éxito alguno. Quienes sobrevivimos, buscamos un lugar donde escondernos, esperando algún día iniciar el contraataque.
En un lugar recóndito de la capital, sobrevivientes de la resistencia en búsqueda de medios para destruir a Insomnio Corp y salvar a la humanidad, hallaron la forma de reproducir aquellas memorias de recuerdos humanos al emplear una máquina que ellos mismos construyeron aprovechando residuos tecnológicos y un software llamado 夢の現実 [Sueños de Realidad]. Con el tiempo los experimentos en dissos prueba arrojaron resultados esperanzadores.
Sin embargo, Insomnio Corp no tardó en enterarse de ello. Declaró el grabado de memorias un acto ilegal en contra de la nación y ordenó destruir todas las memorias; muchas de ellas simplemente fueron borradas. Hoy paso los días tratando de encontrar una sola que nos ayude y logremos recordar quienes fuimos y, así, rescatar lo que queda de nuestra humanidad.
